I love reading your monthly notes, Julianna. There’s something so comforting and true in the way you share your days in London. I’ve been feeling similarly about spring, how it quietly invites new thoughts for exploring again. Your writing reminded me of something I saw back in late February or early March that was along the lines of “We’re all trying to rush Mother Nature. It’s still winter.” It gave me a lot of pause then and has stayed with me. I realized I hadn’t really let myself embrace winter or notice the good in it. I was so busy waiting for the next thing. Reading your reflections brought that back to me in the best way.
Thank you for the kind words, Shana. I really hope for these monthly posts to feel personal and not like generic London guides so this means a lot to hear from you! How has it been in Paris so far this spring? We've been lucky with a long stretch of really nice weather that has certainly brought the spirits up.
Maybe I was cheating the system a bit this winter but it really helped to have a trip to look forward to at the end of January. It enabled me to fully embrace the periods before and after. As I'm typing this, I'm reminded of a book I saw a couple of months ago that I had made a mental note to get (and obviously forgot haha) called 'How to Winter' - will definitely be picking up next year!
Hello! Fellow Londoner here. If you haven't been already, Charleston in Sussex might be your bag: easy to reach on the train and absolutely beautiful, especially as the garden begins to wake up. Other end of the country, but Chatsworth's new flower exhibition (https://www.chatsworth.org/events/gorgeous-nothings/) will be well worth a visit!
Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for the great recos 🙏🏻
Wowow, Charleston looks amazing. You are correct, it is very much so up my street. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! Definitely adding to my list for sooner rather than later.
Chatsworth House also looks beautiful. Will have to try and scheme a trip up that way while the exhibition is on!
I'd describe as a small, social dining experience, usually hosted in someone's home or a unique venue. They are often centered around a particular theme, topic, or activity with the purpose of bringing people with similar interests together. There's another one here I've had my eye on called '& the Table' and each evening is focused on a conversation topic/discussion prompt. Seems interesting!
This will be my first one so I'm not entirely sure what to expect! Even though I've been in London for over 4 years, making new friends here still feels like one of the harder adjustments so I've been trying to find different ways to put myself out there more. As much as my introvert self panics a bit at the idea, I'm really looking forward to it!
Curious if this aligns with what you'd imagined it to be?

I enjoyed this catch up! I am wondering, what’s a supper club from a Londoner’s perspective (I live in the US)
Yes, it definitely aligns with what I was thinking. It’s so necessary in today’s loneliness epidemic
Agree, will be a good opportunity for connection I hope!
Thank you so much for reading and catching up! :)
