This Month in London: June Edition
A slower pace, some local discoveries, and moments to savor this month in London
Hello, hello!
‘This Month in London’ is a blend of personal reflections and curated recommendations. Each month, I’ll share seasonal happenings, local gems, and everyday discoveries alongside thoughts on travel, personal growth, and intentional living. Whether you live here or are planning a visit, this monthly series offers a guide to exploring both London and yourself with curiosity, savoring the ordinary and extraordinary alike.
Easing Into Summer
Things I'm looking forward to this summer? Slow days with absolutely nothing in the diary, except maybe a yoga class. Days spent with friends where time passes easily and screen time is minimal. Lots of time outside, and when I’m inside—the windows open and a steady breeze wafting through the flat. Bright red, juicy tomatoes at the farmers market. A trip to Sicily with friends. Dips in the sea. Some quality time with family in our favorite New England summer destinations. And, hopefully, a clearer mind.
May was an emotionally intense month, but one filled with meaning. There were multiple moments when I felt on the verge of spontaneous combustion—if that were a thing people could do. So while May was tough (to put it ever so lightly), I also learned a lot and received a firm reminder of how special, fragile, and fleeting life is.
I've entered June feeling immense gratitude: for the people in my life, for this home and life in London that my partner and I have built from scratch, for the simple moments that make life feel grounding, and for the big ones that make it feel extraordinary.
I love living in this city, which is precisely why I started my This Month in London series—to share small discoveries and experiences that remind me why I love it here so much. Read on for some gems to check out around London this month.

June in London
For me, June is about re-centering: spending time with our people, stocking up on fresh ingredients at the weekend farmers market (the berries are back, and I’m anxiously awaiting the tomatoes!), deep-cleaning the flat, upholding our newly minted Friday evening pub tradition, and getting back into a flow. Part of that flow includes fun days out exploring and enjoying London.
Summer events are officially in full swing, so there's a lot on my radar for this month! At the end of June, I'll be traveling again, but will then be back in London for most of the summer so you can expect the July post to be even more jam-packed.
Art & Culture
London is always chock-full of opportunities to be immersed in beautiful art and cultural experiences. These are just a few that are top of mind for June.
Visit artist open studios in West London between 13-15 June.
You can still grab tickets for BST Hyde Park which kicks off at the end of June! Headliners include Olivia Rodrigo, Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, Sabrina Carpenter, Neil Young and more.
When I had the idea for marbled leather goods for Maragold, I attended some marbling workshops with Marmor Paperie at Cockpit Studios. This weekend is Cockpit Open Studios where you can visit the studios of the artists at Cockpit in Deptford.
I LOVE a book shop and the Independent Book Shop Week will be from 14-21 June. I think I’ll celebrate by visiting one that I’ve never been to, which will perhaps inspired a little adventure exploring the area it’s in.
The London Design Biennale is happening at Somerset House from 5-29 June. You'll see amazing design work and creative projects from artists and designers around the world. Along with all the exhibitions, there are also talks, performances, and workshops you can attend.
The Royal Academy Summer Exhbition is one of my favorite events of the year! It runs from 17 June-17 August and this year is “dedicated to art’s capacity to forge dialogues and to afford us sensitivity towards societal concerns, such as ecology, survival and living together.” Farshid Moussavi RA, coordinator of the exhibition
Try some of the country’s best food & drink at Taste of London happening from 18-22 June in Regent’s Park. There are still single session entry tickets available.
Trooping the Colour will take place this weekend, on 14 June.
West End Live is happening on 21-22 June in Trafalgar Square where you can catch free, live performances from some of London’s best shows.
Markets
If there’s one thing about me, it’s that I love a market. I seek them out while traveling and also enjoy exploring the many around London to find cool, interesting things (and people!). Lately, vintage markets have become a new hobby and a fun way to explore different corners of the city.
Hackney Depot Flea Weekender, 28-29 June near Broadway Market (so be sure to check that out while you’re in the area!)
Hackney Flea Market, 14-15 June in Stoke Newington
Sunbury Antiques Market, 15 June in Wimbledon, 24 & 29 June at Kempton Park Racecourse
Maple Road Market, 28 June in Penge (reachable from central London via Southeastern Railway or Windrush Line)
North London Makers' Market, 28-29 June in Stoke Newington
Shōtengai Pan-Asian Market, 12-15 June at Lower Stable Street in Coal Drops Yard
South London Craft Fair, 14 June at Leadenhall Market
Wine Car Boot Sale, 14 June in Coal Drops Yard
Summery Spots to Eat
Here are some summery spots that I’m excited to try—and some to go back to (in fact, a majority of these are worthwhile repeats). I thought I’d just list a few places and then things got out of hand!
Acme Fire Cult - a personal favorite with food cooked over the fire and a great atmosphere
Caravel - was here in the fall and think it would be a fab summer spot
Crisp W6 - it’s been a few years since I’ve been here and I’ve been daydreaming about this pizza
Dusty Knuckle pizza nights - on the topic of pizza, this is right next door to Acme Fire Cult with the same great atmosphere and part of an amazing bakery
Lucia’s - tacos have been on my mind as of late
One Club Row - looks like a good new opening in Shoreditch
Smokestak - haven’t been here in ages and love the food, it’s BBQ season!
Rochelle Canteen - made an anniversary booking here as it’s long been on the list
The Kerfield Arms - from the same team as The Baring so it’s bound to be good
Towpath Cafe - a great sunny weekend brunch spot right along the canal, interested in trying their dinner

Day Trips From London (Next Month)
I might not squeeze in any day trips this month with travel coming up, but I’m bookmarking a few places for July:
Broadstairs - in particular, Staple Stores, Bar Ingo, and a walk along the Promenade
Margate - there seem to be some great new openings like POM and Lulu’s Gelato
St. Leonards - a favorite day trip of mine
Tillingham - have been waiting for a warm weekend to do this!

Savor-Worthy Moments at Home
Despite the lengthy list above, I’ve been feeling a pull to slow down, let go, and lean into simpler pleasures at home. I encourage you to try a quick gratitude exercise by naming three things you’re currently enjoying, no matter how small. Here are mine:
My window box which contains some fresh herbs and farmers market flowers
Salted maple iced matcha lattes
Weekly Italian lessons and self-study in between classes
As always, thank you for being here! I’m incredibly grateful for each of you who take the time to read my posts. I’d love for you to join me again—either here or over on Instagram, where I share more of the photos I capture around London and on my travels. You can follow and subscribe below!
